Melbourne Is The Home Of Indoor 4x4

Ragged Edge 4x4, the world’s first 4x4 indoor track has opened in Melbourne, Australia. Think of it as go-karts on steroids.

Ragged Edge 4x4 was established by Chris Nolan as a production company for 4x4 activities in Australia and is now available for fun times for the general public.

The trucks are made at the venue. They have 44″ tyres and a 350 Chevy engine.

Once you are helmeted up and strapped in, an instructor will take you through the course and then, if you choose, hand the wheel over to you.

Nolan says he expects the venue to be equally a big hit for petrol-heads and corporate functions alike. A time-share plan for people wanting to buy the vehicles will also soon be available.

Regulars can take out a membership at the course for reduced costs for each visit.

Ragged 4x4 is open Wednesday through to Sunday.

Tip:

On the inside of the 4x4 you will notice either an extra gear lever or dial on the dash which allows you to shift the vehicle into high or low range 4WD. As a general rule, for moderate inclines, slippery or sandy situations, use 4WD high range. For very deep water crossings, steep or rocky ground use 4WD low range. If you are not sure about this read your owners manual or join a club.
