Jeep/Dodge transmission swap?

Jeep/Dodge transmission swap?
i have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee(ZJ). it has the 318 5.2L v8, and an automatic transmission(not sure on the model), with the full-time 4wd transfercase. the transmission is now having trouble shifting(wont shift past 2nd gear nor downsshift back to first when in overdrive). we checked the fluid and all that is fine, so i was wondering if i can replace it with a transmission out of a 3/4 ton dodge pickup that is heavier duty then my current transmission(the jeep has 6.5″ lift and 35″ boggers). if so will it work with my transfercase or will i have to get one out of the truck too. or will all of this have to correspond with the gears in the rearends which im not sure what those are either. any information would be great, and some model numbers of transmission/tranfercases that may work.

It is important to know the position of your front and rear differentials as they are usually the lowest point of your vehicle. Similarly, any other low ground clearance points should be noted e.g. exhaust, spare tyre etc. When a large rock or other obstacle is on a track that you must drive over, you should ensure you avoid driving directly over it with the lowest ground clearance point of your 4x4.
