I’m new to the Forum but not new to 4 wheeling. I have a question for those who have done this swap. I’m swapping a 460 into a 1993-1996 Bronco and was wondering is there any year that is preferable to others with regard to the 460 and strength? I know they all are about the same but are the police specials different. Should i look for a 429 instead because of the torque range? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also, i plan to keep the C-6 tranny with a rebuild for the truck. Any thoughts? Don’t really want to go with a manual because i think the auto pulls better in the mud. Finally, is it worth swapping out the front and rear with Dana 60s out of an f250 late model with discs?? Thanks!

Tip:
The number of driven wheels<br> You may not know this, but the average 4x4 is really only two wheel drive. Jack one rear wheel and one front wheel off the ground, and you will note that the wheels in the air are the ones to spin, not the ones on the ground. Even if your 4x4 has a rear limited slip differential, the same scenario applies. So, what can be done to help in this situation? Well, this is the reason a lot of four wheel drivers fit diff locks. A diff lock fitted to just the rear diff, means that if you have three wheels in the air, the one rear wheel on the ground is enough to continue forward motion. The wheel in the air will spin at exactly the same rate as the one on the ground.
