4x4galore – Walhalla, More Good Tracks May 2009

July 24th, 2010 · 9 Comments

The Walhalla area has so much to offer. Today we head out along Fultons Creak Track. Now this has some fantastic climbs, creek crossings (when we’re not in the middle of a drought) and might descents. We were facing just a persistent light drizzle and as the morning wore on the tracks became wetter. Be warned, in the wet some of these climbs and descents could be very interesting, so go prepared with all your recovery gear.

Tip:

Servicing on a 4x4 is normally at more frequent intervals, especially if you are involved in real 4WD work with lots of low range, river crossings or particularly dusty conditions.

    Hi erniethecudda,

I guess our 4WDing is pretty tame compared to your 4WD competition rock crawling.

But that’s what’s great about the 4x4 world. There is something for everyone.

@4x4galore Thanks mate – bit of a drive from WA, but if we ever take the 323 interstate (hooley dooley!!!) we’ll be sure to give it a crack =P

alieninvasion47, the tracks are all named, so you’re most welcome to go up there in your Mazda 323.

As a responsible 4WDer I must suggest you take your recovery gear along, just in case.

Thanks for your comment Ezookiel, you’re right about tracks not looking as steep as they really are.

All our trips are designed for normal 4WD’s, not competition trucks, so yes they may seem easy to someone with a beefed up 4x4 running 35″ tyres.

we name all the tracks, so people can jump into their vehicles and run the same tracks as described on the video.

It definitely LOOKS like they are pretty straight forward tracks with little of anything that is really noteworthy, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt, because it is notoriously hard to convey steep and rough in photos and videos, so it MIGHT have been tougher going than it appears.
But it’s always a positive to see anyone out using a 4wd for what it was intended and giving it a go. Sharing it with others to encourage them to do the same can only be a good thing.

i think my girlfriend’s mazda 323 would have driven all of those tracks… and will less “hooley dooleys” too!
