ID:80264 – Help replacing Glow Plugs

July 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

My son has an 89 Landcruiser HJ75 – he has just tried to replace the glow plugs, got the old ones out, but broke two new ones getting them in, they have snapped off inside and are now stuck. He seems to have tightened them too far. Can anyone help with the correct way to fit them? He has a repair manual, but not much on Glow plugs. Thanks.

Tip:

It is important to know the position of your front and rear differentials as they are usually the lowest point of your vehicle. Similarly, any other low ground clearance points should be noted e.g. exhaust, spare tyre etc. When a large rock or other obstacle is on a track that you must drive over, you should ensure you avoid driving directly over it with the lowest ground clearance point of your 4x4.
