ID:80395 – Beefing up the boat trailer?

July 29th, 2010 · No Comments

Gda’y all!

Next year I’ll be dragging the quinnie up past Weipa with some mates to chase barra and palagics.

The boat is a 4.75m with 60 4 st yammie on standard Dumbier trailer.

I know it wont survive the corrigations is present trim.

Been thinking about suspension, extra rollers and/or skids and wheels matched to the nissan.

Have you got any tips on what to do or avoid to help bring her back in one piece?

One of the mates goes every year with a 4.3m hornet on a much modified trailer that is repaired and remodified each trip.

any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Nifty.

Suspension Travel It doesn't matter how good a tyre you have, if they can't contact the ground then you lose forward motion. An upgraded long travel suspension helps your vehicle maintain tyre contact in extreme situations. Another benefit is that in a lot of cases, the ride is more controlled and comfortable, although today, manufacturers have softened up the most hardy vehicles in their range to a point that for serious 4WD a new heavier suspension must be fitted to cope with the terrain and loads.
