I have a 1987 Cherokee with the junk vacuum disconnect. It left me stranded on the beach the other day, won’t happen again. I took it apart, removed the vacuum motor and shaft, got a 3/8 3 inch long bolt,2 nuts,3 washers and fixed it.The bolt replaces the shaft, one nut locks the shift fork in place, with a washer, the other nut and 2 washers lock the bolt into the housing. Simple and cheap. They make a kit to do the same thing that cost .
