Cape York – Gunshot Creek

September 7th, 2010 · 5 Comments

Trip to Cape York in September, Frenchman’s Track and all the OTL. South to North, all and North to South, Oh Ye! Beautiful Aussie Swag Camper I LUV it. Check the other one au.youtube.com and Simpson Desert 2009 www.youtube.com

Tip:

Differences Between 4x4 and 2WD The first difference you will notice is that the 4WD has far greater ground clearance than a 2WD. Some 4WD's have what are called free wheeling hubs fitted to the centre of the front wheels. These hubs can be either manual, where there is a knob to be turned, automatic, where once in 4WD the hubs lock automatically or a combination of both. The idea of free wheeling hubs is to disconnect the front diff and axles from the wheel, so when traveling on highway, the vehicle doesn't have to use extra power turning these when they are not wanted.

Great vid. I was there in 2008 as well, and fortunately some would say OR unfortunately for others, we didnt see the roads quite like you did. A lot drier and easier for us. I was also in Simpson desert in 2009 as well, whats in store for 2010. We may pass each other out there. Great vid, Cheers Brad

Good video, I remember gunshot very well, as I rolled my Hilux there in 2005 (see video Cape York 2005). The track was very different then, but it is good to see that the old tree stump I ran into is still there on the right hand side of the track. We also crossed the log bridge at Cyprus Creek but did it at night which was daunting. I enjoyed it.
