Me and My Jeep Commando at age 17.

Tip:
Differences Between 4x4 and 2WD The first difference you will notice is that the 4WD has far greater ground clearance than a 2WD. Some 4WD's have what are called free wheeling hubs fitted to the centre of the front wheels. These hubs can be either manual, where there is a knob to be turned, automatic, where once in 4WD the hubs lock automatically or a combination of both. The idea of free wheeling hubs is to disconnect the front diff and axles from the wheel, so when traveling on highway, the vehicle doesn't have to use extra power turning these when they are not wanted.

Bre’s Cryptozoological Journal Day 43
Peter took this picture of me and the jeep before we headed back into the forests of Oregon. The day before we finally met face-to-face with the wild hairy ape that ended his days. Damn you Sasquatch! Damn you to hell!

Between that hair and the photo I literally fell off my chair laughing. This rocks Bre!
What kind of camera was used to take the photo?
12 bre pettis // Feb 8, 2012 at 8:24 am
Hey Sparky,
I’m pretty sure that my girlfriend at the time took this with her hasselblad, but she could have been using the nikon that I was using at the time. I still have that camera and it still works great!
Thanks for the great comment!
Hey Typwriter,
I did in fact have an encounter with a sasquatch near Wilbur, WA when I was 16. It makes the hair go up on my arms and my eyes tear up when I think about it. Creepy.
Thanks for the super comment!

Great photo, great story! Church Starfish — I was just thinking about tracking that one down (and that Thin White Rope album, too).

HAHA I feel your pain. I had a 1978 International Scout SSII. Even at 17, you learn what a PITA it is to keep fixing a dead horse. Still, I bet you wish you had it now…

Nice to see a shot of one of Jeep’s most forgotten vehicles!
